Here’s a recipe that takes a simple sandwich and turns it into something you can actually be proud to serve at a party. I make these every year for our Superbowl party, but a few times a year I will make it just for a nice lunch or a dinner where it’s just me and the kids. Plus, they’re made with Hawaiian rolls and I’ve yet to meet anyone who doesn’t like those! My kids actually requested these as a special dinner earlier this week and it’s a simple enough recipe that I let them help throw it together (which explains why a few of them were a bit askew). It’s a fun way to have a casual meal that actually contains most the food groups.
Ingredients:
Sandwiches:
- 2 packages- Hawaiian dinner rolls
- 1 lb- sliced Ham
- 1 package- Cheese of choice
Sauce:
- 1 stick- Butter
- 1 tsp- Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp- onion powder
- 1 tsp- mustard
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325*f
- Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil
- Melt butter, and mix in Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and mustard
- Spread a layer of sauce over the tin foil to flavor bottom of the sandwiches
- Slice dinner rolls vertically so they can be made into sandwiches and lay bottoms on tin foil
- Layer ham and cheese on bread
- Spread some mustard on top of ham and cheese
- Place tops of dinner rolls
- Cut into individual sandwiches
- Spoon sauce over sandwiches
- Cover with tin foil and cook for 10 minutes
- Remove foil and cook an additional 10 minutes
- Serve!
Hopefully this is a big hit at your next get together or just for a yummy finger-food dinner with the family. As usual, hope your kids approve and let me know if there’s anything you would change or if you have any questions.
